The ex-communication of Paul Martin

Okay, so here's my political thought for the day.

We're hearing bits and pieces about MP's getting ex-communicated by the Catholic church (and I hope that more churches do so) for their support of Same Sex Marriage.

Now hang on a second. Paul Martin, isn't he a Catholic? And the new Pope, Benedict XVI, hasn't he spoken out about same sex marriage? So, as Paul Martin is "leading others astray" by promoting same sex marriage...

... shouldn't the Pope ex-communicate him?

If he REALLY wants to make a statement, that's what he should do!
