Shapiro - "I know what I said, BUT..."

Don't let the MSM burry this story! Shapiro just put another nail in his own coffin!

The "Ethics" Commissioner has once again played the role of a political partisan to a "T"; Shapiro has refused to investigate the Martin/Stronach floor crossing... even though his OWN WORDS in his Harper/Emerson report painted him into a corner on the issue. Read all about it here from CTV...
"Shapiro refuses to probe Stronach defection
Updated Thu. Mar. 30 2006 6:27 AM ET

Canadian Press

OTTAWA — The federal ethics commissioner says he will not investigate former prime minister Paul Martin's role in bringing Belinda Stronach into the Liberal ranks last May.

Bernard Shapiro says there's nothing in the ethics guidelines to stop a prime minister from appointing an opposition member to his cabinet - in fact, he calls it a constitutional right.

Shapiro was responding to a complaint from New Democrat MP Pat Martin, who had complained that the former prime minister may have violated ethics guidelines by offering Stronach a cabinet job.

(Pat) Martin said he's surprised.

He said Shapiro sent a clear message in his report on David Emerson's recent party switch that had the defection been linked to a Commons vote, it would have been a clear violation of the guidelines.

Martin filed his complaint after the Emerson report because he said Stronach, a former Tory, crossed the floor on the eve of a critical Commons vote that threatened to bring down the minority Liberal government."
Now, Shapiro's own words from his Harper/Emerson Report...
Clearly, if the Prime Minister were to approach a member with an offer of a Cabinet position with the sole intent and specific purpose of acquiring that member’s vote directly linked to a parliamentary proceeding existing at that time, such conduct would be inappropriate and unacceptable. Conversely, if a member of the House were to approach the Prime Minister indicating that, in exchange for a Cabinet position, his or her vote could be acquired for the sole intent and specific purpose that is directly linked to a parliamentary proceeding existing at that time, that too, would be inappropriate and unacceptable.
Yes, clearly, it would be unacceptable. If it were to happen, I suppose someone like the Ethics Commissioner should investigate.

Liberals perpetuate YWCA Lies

Surprise, surprise. This just in from info@liberal.ca... posted on their website here.

Give it up guys. Most Canadians DON'T want a national "childcare" institution.

Of course, really it's just a plot to indoctrinate our children to be good little socialists, who will spend the rest of their lives voting Liberal or NDP... but I digress.

"Not a red cent to Hamas"

All I have to say is this... WAY TO GO PETER!!!

It's about time that Canada said "NO" to terrorists. Funding Fatah was bad enough, and I'll bet my bottom dollar that if the Liberals were still in power, they'd be funding Hamas as if nothing had ever happened.

Now, to those who may think my attitude "unChristian", I'm glad that Mackay has said that the government is looking to funnel funds directly to humanitarian works, but won't give a dime to a known terrorist organization... you know, people who like to spend their money looking for ways to kill as many Israelis as possible.

For the record, I support and pray for the peace of Israel. I believe the Jews are the chosen people of God, and that Genesis 12:1-3 still apply:
"Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father's house, to the land which I will show you; And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."
Hamas, so long as you curse the nation of Israel, you and your people shall remain in poverty. God has spoken it; so shall it be.

Now, don't get me wrong... Israel today is not a perfect nation. They still have some changing of heart to do themselves. However, when the LORD God Almighty says He's got your back...

NOTE: Some may ask why, if "God has got their back", what that whole Holocost thing was all about... He never said it would be all roses for His people... but look at where Hitler is today... God kept his promise indeed.

What's Warren up to?

From his blog yesterday...
March 27, 2006 - In case anyone is interested:

WARREN KINSELLA AND NAVIGATOR
"After nearly four exciting years at Navigator, Warren Kinsella has decided to move on to another firm, details of which will become known soon. Warren and Navigator are proud to have helped make Navigator one of the top strategic communications firms in Canada. In the meantime, Warren wishes his friends and colleagues at Navigator continued success, and vice-versa."

- 30 -
Then, his post from a few days ago...
March 24, 2006 - It's really, really late, or really, really early, depending upon your point of view.

Tonight - I won't provide any details - I had a mind-boggling, jaw-dropping, life-altering experience. If you know me, you already know that I can be pretty much be brought over to your side with a handshake and a beer.

Someone, tonight, bought me a beer and offered a handshake and immediately made me feel crummy about approximately 13 years of bad stuff. From combatant to doubter in 30 minutes.

It's like Rabin used to say, I guess: who else do you make peace with, but your enemies?
As he is one of the most connected guys in Canadian politics today, and someone I read and respect, I am indeed interested Warren. (Yes, I know most people hate him, but I actually like the guy... or at least I respect him for what I know of him) What are you up to?

I have my own ideas, but I'll just keep them to myself... for now.

I just had a brainwave... maybe this has some credibility... LOL, kidding.

Global Warming... ???

My co-worker passed this on to me. He dug up an old TIME Magazine article from 1974 online in TIME's online archives regarding the changing weather patterns on the planet...
As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years, a growing number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval.
That's what we've been hearing for years for supporters of Kyoto and the left, right? READ THE REST OF THE SAME PARAGRAPH...
However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age.
What a difference a few decades make, eh?

How about that, eh? "The trend shows no sign of reversing. So then, let me get this straight... if things had been cooling back then for the previous three decades, and now things have been warming for the three decades since... doesn't that mean we're back to square one from where we were 60 years ago?

Give the TIME article a read for yourself!

What is "Free Speech"?

Some of you may have noticed the firestorm going on over here regarding "Freedom of Speech". I'm just posting a question for clarification, to see if I'm the one who's nieve about this topic... what, exactly, does "Freedom of Speech" mean? I've always assumed that I was among the majority of people in my views, but it never hurts just to make sure.

To you, does it mean the ability to say what you want, when you want, where you want? I know that that's the view of most on the far left, but I think that's a fairly nieve way of thinking. If that's your veiw, then true "Freedom of Speech" doesn't exist on this good green earth. There are very few places where it does exist in that form, such as various places in Europe... and due to the Islam cartoons, that form of "Freedom of Speech" is being challenged even there.

I've held the view that "Freedom of Speech", as it exists in the mind of most people here in North America, is the freedom to express your views WITHIN REASONABLE LIMITS. Am I the one who's nieve?

Anyway, while we're discussing this, I'd like to ask that you put a limit on your own "Freedom of Speech"... watch the language, or I will delete the comment. (just to clarify) Yes, I am a Christian, and I'd appreciate it if you choose your words with thought when you're in "my house". ;-) Thanks.

On an unrelated matter, congrats to "Ryan", a newcomer to this blog... your comment was #900!

REPOST: Having fun with Shapiro's report

One reader indicated that Blogger wasn't allowing comments when I posted this, so I'm reposting so everyone has a chance to respond:

I read a quote from Shapiro's report, then read the report myself, then I tried something rather FUN... I CHANGED THE NAMES to see how it would read. (I heard M.K. Braaten first posted this first quote) From the Ethic's Commissioner's "Harper/Emerson" Report:
Finally, all three members have referred to the Grewal-Dosanjh Report that I issued in January 2006 in support of their allegations, with particular reference to page 10, upon which the following paragraph appears:

If Mr. Grewal had sought a reward or inducement to cross the floor at this time, he would have been acting and/or attempting to act in such a way as to further his private interests. Likewise, if Mr. Dosanjh had offered a reward or inducement to Mr. Grewal to cross the floor, at this time, he would have been acting and/or attempting to act in such a way as to improperly further Mr. Grewal’s private interests.
So I thought to myself, how would it read if I changed the names?
If Ms. Stronach had sought a reward or inducement to cross the floor at this time, she would have been acting and/or attempting to act in such a way as to further her private interests. Likewise, if Mr. Martin had offered a reward or inducement to Ms. Stronach to cross the floor, at this time, he would have been acting and/or attempting to act in such a way as to improperly further Ms. Stronach’s private interests.

Liberals to pull down the House?

David Asper, chairman of the Nationl Post, has a message for the Federal Liberals... "Go ahead, make my day".

Bill Graham has been threatening to bring down the House over the "childcare" deals, and force another snap election. The funny thing is, David Asper (and the whole Asper Family) have been Liberal supporters for decades... and have now jumped over to support the Tories. Now, it's almost like Mr. Asper is daring the Liberals to pull the trigger, cause he thinks that will give us what we want... a Tory majority.

I'm torn on this one... do we make do with our minority, or go for all the marbles?

I'm thinking... still thinking... I honestly can't answer that one.

I guess I'm weird... I'm one of those people who LOVE elections...

"Released" or "Rescued"?

The "Christian" Peacemaker Teams have issued this statement regarding their freed hostages...
Our hearts are filled with joy today as we heard that Harmeet Singh Sooden, Jim Loney and Norman Kember have been safely released in Baghdad.

(...)We believe that the illegal occupation of Iraq by Multinational Forces is the root cause of the insecurity which led to this kidnapping and so much pain and suffering in Iraq. The occupation must end.
First of all, referring to it as an "illegal occupation" betrays the fact that they've taken sides in this conflict... despite their commitment to being "peacemakers". Fellas, as 'Christians', just serve... don't take sides, just serve the people of Iraq in the Name of Christ.

Secondly, why are you lying in your statement? They were NOT released, they were rescued by Canadian, British, American and Iraqi soldiers.

Soldiers with guns. In Iraqi. Rescuing your butts, and you have the ungrateful audacity to say they were "released". I wish I was making this up.

I agree with Dust my Broom on this one, it's "disgusting". It's disgusting, it's innacurate, and it's plain old lying, simply because they want to distance themselves from the soldiers who risked their lives to rescue them.

To show this kind of ingratitude is, in my opinion, sin. Of course, my opinion, ultimately, is irrelevant... it's what He decides that really matters.

h/t to Michelle Malkin.

UPDATE: This is what I was afraid of... the "Christian" Peacemaker Teams, in issuing their press release, have angered some, who like me also see their ungreatfulness as being a very "unChristian" thing.

Please remember, these lefties DON'T speak for all of us. Their goals may be noble, but their methods aren't above board.

UPDATE 1: A commenter thinks I've not been very "Christ-like" about CPT. I would ask that you please re-read the post... I was encouraging them to continue striving for their goals, just without the political overtones. If they want to be true "peacemakers", they should serve others without taking sides... as I'm sure Christ would also recommend. I too want to better emulate the Lord Jesus in my life, and one thing He stood up against consistantly is hypocricy... their insertion of political agendas (with their anti-Bush overtones) into this "mission" is something that I don't think would honour Him... that's all I was saying.

UPDATE 2: It appears that the two Canadians rescued are actually grateful to the soldiers with guns... it's just their organization that's being ungreatful. A quote from Mr. Harper today:
"'You did excellent work and Mr. Loney and Mr. Sooden asked me to thank you for the assistance,'" said Harper, who spoke to the two former hostages earlier in the day."

Having some FUN with Shapiro's report!

I read a quote from Shapiro's report, read part of it myself, then I tried something rather FUN... I CHANGED THE NAMES to see how it would read. (I heard M.K. Braaten first posted this first quote) From the Ethic's Commissioner's "Harper/Emerson" Report:
However, what is important is the intent and the purpose associated with an offer to join Cabinet.
Wow... is this the "Harper/Emerson" report, or is this the text of a yet to be released "Martin/Stronach" report?

BUT GET A LOAD OF THIS... he goes on...

Ohh, this could be fun... let's change the names, and then re-read it...
OUCH!!!

Afghanistan: Christian could face death penalty...

...for just becoming a Christian. We've been having a debate on this site about "freedom of expression", and I just noticed this story on CBC.

A man became a Christian 16 years ago, and now may face the death penalty if he refuses to "revert" to Islam.

Freedom of religion... is it a Western myth? Will the world stand up to the Imam's in Afghanistan and ensure that all faiths can be held and practiced? Stay tuned and we'll see.

Of course, the Lord Jesus told us that this was to be expected. We Christians in the West have had it easy. I wonder how much longer that will last. Oh well... regardless of what happens, I'll still be proclaiming the Name of God's Glorious Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, in who's Name ALONE can salvation be found.

As He Himself said... "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me."

UPDATE: The Prime Minster's Office has gotten involved; and boy, was that ever FAST.

What a difference an election makes...

My point exactly: The Davinci FRAUD

There's been a rather active debate on this site about whether or not Christanity is discriminated against in this country. I woke up last night and couldn't get back to sleep, so I chewed on some thoughts and came up with this: the upcoming "Davinci Code" movie proves my point exactly.

The other night, my wife and I went to see Harrison Ford's new movie, "Firewall". (I'm a network tech, so of course this flick appealed to me) During the previews, they had a preview of the upcoming "The Davinci Code". I felt like leaping to my feet and shouting "BLASPHAMY!!!" right there and then. I'm unsure how I will respond to it when it comes out, to protest, or to sit quiet. But it started me thinking...

A couple of years ago, there was another major film that came out... and the left was in a tizzy, decrying it as a gore-fest, inappropriate for society, racist against Jews, and pulled out all the stops to discredit both the film and its producers. And then it went on to smash box office records in several categories and in several nations (including the Arab world... go figure), and beat the previous 5-day box-office record holder, "The Lord of the Rings - Return of the King". That's right, I'm talking about Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ".

I waited in line for about two hours to see that film. It was truely an "epic" film. For the most part, it was historically/Biblically accurate, and captured, in large part, what really happened there at Calvary. It was indeed a bloody event, both in real life and on the screen. And one event, right before the start of the film, caught my attention.

An employee of the theatre stood at the front, and asked everyone to be quiet for a moment. He then went on to state that if anyone had any objections to the film, they could recieve a full refund within the first 15 minutes of the movie. In all my years of movie going, I cannot ever remember that occuring. I heard that this occured at many theatres across North America.

Now I ask you this... where are the Davinci critics? Will anyone be standing up to see that this film, which attacks the Christian (albeit the Catholic side) faith? Will movie staff be warning people of the objectionable content of the film prior to its screening?

I have a feeling they won't be. Now I wonder why that is...

SHAPIRO CLEARS HARPER AND EMERSON

WOO HOO! Shapiro has cleared Prime Minister Harper and Minister Emerson of ANY WRONGDOING with Emerson's crossing of the floor. Here's the link to the report on the Ethics Commissioner's website. (I didn't know he even had one!)

As many of us said all along... there was no basis for an investigation in the first place!!!

The NDP's "Recall Emerson" Petition

Just got the most recent "eNDP" newsletter today. They're touting their "Recall Emerson" petition on it, so I went and took a look. Here's what they say on it:
"We, the undersigned, believe MP David Emerson should resign and face a by-election — so Vancouver Kingsway voters may decide which candidate and party will represent them in Parliament."
Humm, I seem to remember reading about something like this back in 1993...
"The Reform Party of Canada - 1993 Federal ELECTION PLATFORM (Published January 29, 1993)

Referendum, Initiative and Recall

If elected, a Reform Government will introduce legislation and constitutional proposals to create binding referendum, citizens initiative, and recall mechanisms at the federal level."
Oh yea... if I remember correctly, a lot of people said that this was a bad idea... wasn't one of the groups that was against it the NDP?

Ahh, convinent... they've had a change of heart I see.

Sorry lads, but you missed the boat on that idea. If you'd like, you can add it to your platform for the NEXT election, and we can debate it then. Of course, I think you'll get a LOT of support for the idea... next time. Yep, out "hidden agenda" has been exposed... get the left to support OUR ideas for a change!

"Choose Life" plates

The state of Tennesee has just approved the "Choose Life" banner plates for use in the state. Of course, the ACLU was the main objector... and they supposedly support "freedom of speech". (and thanks for your forthcoming comment Drew...) ;-)

Either you support freedom of speech, or you don't. Of course, I support LIMITS on freedom of speech, such as limits on spreading hate, pornography, etc. But to try to limit someone from espousing a point of view where there is no harm to any identifiable group, well, I think that's hypocrisy. Don't you? Someone (the ACLU) claiming to be protecting free speech by seeking to limit someone else's right to free speech. Can anyone help me out with this one?

Now, some may point out to my recent posts on how the left attacks Christians, and claim that I'm being hypocritical myself... my saying that the left should quit attacking the church. My previous argument was that the left is CONSISTANT and UNRELENTING in it's public attacks on Christianity... ATTACKS, not just expressing their views. They make it seem like anyone who holds to Christian values is an uneducated bigot, and that is just as unacceptable.

Do liberals attack Christians?

This is interesting, and supports what I've said for a while... I post it here for futher comment/discussion. h/t to Boswarlos Daily for posting this:
Stanley Kurtz writing in the National Review Online excoriates the righteous progressives who openly condemn practitioners of traditional Christianity:

"For a very long time now, secular liberals have treated conservative Christians as the modern embodiment of evil, the one group you’re allowed to openly hate. Although barely noticed by the rest of us, this poison has been floating through our political system for decades. Traditional Christians are tired of it, and I don’t blame them. That doesn’t justify rhetorical excess from either side. But the fact of the matter is that the Left’s rhetorical attacks on conservative Christians have long been more extreme, more widely disseminated, and more politically effective than whatever the Christians have been hurling back. And now that their long ostracism by the media has finally forced conservative Christians to demand redress, the Left has abandoned all rhetorical restraint."
Now I don't support Christians "hurling back" anything, we should be "turning the other cheek" as the Lord Jesus commanded us to... and allowing our meek and peaceful response show others what it truely means to follow Christ. (I fail at this regularly)

What are your thoughts?

NOTE TO COMMENTERS: let's keep the focus on this topic. Some recent comments have already focused on the sins of the Catholic church, so let's try not to go there, unless you feel a point is relevant. Also, WATCH THE LANGUAGE... I left one or two comments up there as the rest of their content was pretty good, HOWEVER, take this as your warning... COMMENTS WITH "UNEDUCATED" LANGUAGE WILL BE DELETED. (ie - choose OTHER four letter words, thank you very much)

St. Patrick's Day... at home

It's St. Patrick's day, and I've got to be the only Blogging Tory at home tonight! Lots to do, and as I'm sure you've all guessed by now, I'm not much of a drinker. ;-) (though a glass of wine every now and again is nice...)

Of course, it's really the day to remember St. Patrick, the man who brought the seeds of the Christian faith to the island of Ireland. As we remember Patrick, how about we remember the Glorious Man, that Holy Son of God whom St. Patrick dedicated his life to tell others about!

- - - - -

On another note I reached comment number 800 this morning. Congrats to Drew. The number of comments has gone up quickly recently, mostly due to some quick half-baked posts from me, and the firery replies they spawned. Thanks to all who've chosen to contribute... hopefully we can all share ideas and help one another grow!

Paul Martin... IT'S OVER

March 16, 2006... a day to remember. I think I could hear Warren cheering from Florida... (UPDATE: Warren was actually most gracious in his post on this)

Paul Martin will be handing in his resignation this weekend. CBC, CTV, and CanWest.

Here's the link to the Liberal press release... and here's the text of the letter...
Letter of Resignation of Paul Martin as Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada

March 16, 2006

Ottawa -- The Liberal Party of Canada today released the following letter received today from the Rt. Hon. Paul Martin, P.C., M.P.:

Mr. Mike Eizenga
President
Liberal Party of Canada
81 Metcalfe Street, Suite 400
Ottawa, Ontario
K1P 6M8

Mr. President,

As per our discussions, I wish to confirm my intention to resign as leader of the Liberal Party of Canada upon the formal call of the convention.

It has been an honour and my great pleasure to serve as leader and to have worked with so many dedicated volunteers, candidates, caucus members and party officials.

I look forward to continuing to serve and contribute to the party that I have always and will always regard as my second family.

Yours sincerely,

The Right Honourable Paul Martin

Sorry, I just really have to do this... Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, G O O D B Y E ! ! !

The Agenda Marches On

Yes, I'm referring to a "hidden agenda", but not a Tory one... an adoption agency for a Catholic Dioces in Boston was ordered to grant adoptions to same sex couples. They asked for a religious exepmtion, and were refused.

Therefore, rather than defy their Biblical principles, they have announced that they will be closing the doors of their agency. They have been in the business of helping troubled kids for over 100 years, but now have been forced to abandon their cause.

I've been saying for years that this is the agenda... the "normalization" of homosexuality, regardless of any religious defence. We've seen it here in Ontario's "Human Rights Tribunal" several times, and there's no sign of it stopping. I fully expect to spend time in jail in the next few decades, as I cannot accept homosexuality as "normal". I have no problem interacting daily with people who say they are gay... a former boss of mine was, as a matter of fact. But to deny my consience and accept as okay that which God has said is sin? That I cannot do, nor will I ever. (NOTE: God also says that adultery, lying and stealing is wrong... I equate all sins as equal)

All sin is abhorant to God, including my own! That's why His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, came to die on the cross of Calvary so long ago. He died that YOU might live, if you REPENT and BELIEVE ON HIM. (not "in" Him, but "on" Him) Do you want proof that He can save? ON THE THIRD DAY, HE ROSE AGAIN.

h/t to "Gay & Right" for the link. (I appreciate his posting this, and his view that this forced closure is wrong)

Globe & Mail... LIKES Harper's speech?

Never thought I'd hear myself say that... but apparently, they agree with his view of the Afghan mission; that it is indeed "a Canadian thing to be doing".

Foot in my mouth?

Did I put my foot in my mouth, again?

It seems my last post may have caused some to question my commitment to my faith. Well, I don't EVER want that to happen, so here's my clarification/correction post.

My faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is THE most important person in my life... more important than my job, my life, even my wife. (and just before anyone thinks that's weird, she'd say the very same thing) I've moved halfway across the country because He opened a door to serve Him. I have a lot to learn yet, so when someone says that they don't think I really am a Christian because of something I say or write, I LISTEN.

So, to help clear things up, here's my definitions on what a "MOONBAT" is:
1) someone who typically falls on the far left of the political spectrum, who consistantly votes NDP, Green or Communist, or will simply vote for a party (ie - Liberal) not due to their policies, but simply to "stop the scary-Conservatives at all costs"

2) someone who is anti-Walmart for the simple reason that they think everything should be free, no one should have to work if they don't feel like it, and that capitalism is a concept from the pit (I live in Guelph, where there is a very noisy lefty-anti-Walmart contingent... there is WAY too much NIMBYism going on around here... but that's another post for another day)

3) one who protests against the war in Iraq, mostly due to being uneducated on the subject... ask any Iraqi who had family members vanish under Saddam how they feel about it

4) regarding #3, they really think that our annual military budget should be a whopping $0.00 per year, and that our troops shouldn't be anywhere where a gun might be required

5) they liked Paul Martin's promise to ban all handguns, and think the Gun Registry was a good investment (of course, they think it actually works)

6) they love John Lenon's "Imagine", and want to implement it as world policy

7) they think the U.N. is a functional world body

8) they are ravenously anti-"dubbya"

9) is not a Bible believing Christian (almost all will fit into this one... or they will go to the United Church of Canada, occasionally)

10) fits into multiple of the above categories
Okay, now that I've offended a few more people... actually, I hope that clarifies what I meant by "moonbat"... I don't use it as broadly as some might... mostly just to the Cindy Sheean types...

Seriously, I didn't mean to be offensive. As I said in my comments, the title and some of the content was intended to get your attention, and to stir the pot... but not to be offensive.

Now, to answer some of my commenters...

In terms of the military, I was actually seriously considering that as a career path. I actually went through the first steps to sign up with the milita program in high school, and was getting ready to apply to the RMC in Kingston. But, this may be hard to understand, the Lord made it clear to me during one of the intro meetings that this wasn't the path that He wanted me to follow. So He closed that door to me as a career. (no, I didn't hear voices... but He might as well have spoken, it was a clear impression to my by His Holy Spirit) Ironicly, my wife was also considering applying to the RMC... weird.

Recently, we've both been thinking about joining the Reserves, but some of our commitments prevented us from doing that. As our situation has changed in the last week, we might just do it. Looking for more info on that, so if any of you have joined, or know anything about joining, I'd be greatful for your input.

As for "not helping the cause", it was my intent to show how some of the mission's detractors are the ones "not helping the cause".

In regards to my tone, sometimes, it's easy to get all fired up and say something you regret... or in a tone you regret. With all the anti-military retoric I've been hearing, having friends in the Forces, I got angry. The Lord taught us "Be angry, but do not sin". (Ephesians 4:26) It was my desire that my post would be able to express my annoyance without crossing over into sin. I can clearly see that I failed to do so clearly, and for that, I truely am sorry.

Ti-guy, you asked "Don't crusades and martyrdom hold any attraction for you? Or is your Christianity limited to sneering at and insulting everyone else?" Acutally, my wife and I just watched "The Kingdom of Heaven" the other day, and no, Crusades have NO APPEAL to me... that was a dispicable period of history, and I pray that it is never again repeated... especially not in the Name of Christ. He asked us to "turn the other cheek", not "slit the other guy's throat", which kinda goes against the whole Crusade thing. As for the martyrdom thing... I'm game, if the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ is glorified in the process.

He also admonished us not to be insulting and evil in our speech... therefore, I will endeavour to keep things on a more even keel in the future. Thanks to all my commenters for the admonishment/reminder.

Memo from PMO to critics... SHUT UP

Here's a PM that shows some decisive action, for a change. Prime Minister Harper has arrived on a surprise visit to Afghanistan to show our troops that CANADIANS SUPPORT THEM.

Did you hear that moonbats? CANADIANS SUPPORT OUR TROOPS.

A couple of friends of mine have done tours of duty over there, and may end up back there. They ARE making a difference. The average people over there are turning AGAINST the terrorists. But of course, the media wouldn't want you to know that... it would ruin their daily "this is an unjust war" byline.

The NDP kinda gets it

NDP MP Pat Martin has stated that if Shapiro is going to investigate the Emerson affair, he should be investigating Stronach too. UPDATE: Sheila Copps agrees.

However, the NDP hasn't totally figured it out... they still have yet to clue into Shapiro's hypocricy of investigation Harper while the House isn't sitting, yet refusing to investgate Tony Valeri FOR THAT VERY SAME REASON. They still have yet to clue in to the fact that Shapiro has CONSISTANTLY gone OUT OF HIS WAY to harras (sorry, "investgate") Conservative Memebers of Parliament.

Perhaps they'll come around.

In the meantime, Harper should co-operate just to show him up... remember, he said "he was LOTHE to co-operate"... that doesn't mean he refused to co-operate. (the media seems to have missed that one)

On another note... lookie what I found BURIED on CTV's website... posted at 11:58pm yesterday. I'll admit that it was a nice try by LPC, er, I mean CTV, hoping no one would notice an audit of MORE CONTRACTING PROBLEMS by the former (I love saying that) Liberal government...

Tories thank you, Mr. Clinton

Yea, that's right... former U.S. President Bill Clinton just took some of the wind out of the sails of Jack "what are we doing staying in Afghanistan?" Layton.

Thoughts on the PM

This showed up in Macleans. It's a fairly good summary on what I've read about what might be going on in PM Harper's head.

h/t to Warren.

Further to my previous Tommy post... thanks for the futher info from my commenters. However, the major point of my post to consider are the "social" issues... I'm sure he'd roll over in his grave regarding same-sex-marriage, etc.

Tommy Douglas and me... we both agree

Just been listening to the CBC, who have been doing a show on Tommy Douglas on their "Ideas" program.

I'm really looking forward to the CBC special on him. From the sounds of it, I'd probably line up really well with what he believed and supported in life, religion, and politics.

I find it interesting that the NDP and the left point to him as their forefather and figurehead. Don't forget, he was a good old Baptist preacher... he stood for social justice back when it really was an issue of social justice. He would NOT have stood for this psudo-social justice we have today, where people are trying to redefine "rights", and throw out social and moral standards that have stood for thousands of years. Tommy Douglas would roll over in his grave if he saw what people were doing in his name today.

For shame.

EX-MP David Smith and Abotech

DON'T LET STORIES OF LIBERAL CORRUPTION DIE. Angry has had his review of the Abotech affair finally picked up by the MSM.

To Party HQ in Ottawa... give Steve Janke a job!

Something good from "Zerb"?

Yes, I got two things from Antonia Zerbisias' blog today... one funny, and one that proves a point I've been trying to make for months. (interesting for all you right-wing gamers out there... when I hear "Zerb", I think "Zerg"...) First, she posted this pic from the Ontario Liberal website...Her comment was "Let's just make this easy and come quietly with us Mr. McGuinty..." HILARIOUS, if you ask me.

Then, she makes this comment about Ben Chin running for the Liberals in an upcoming provincial by-election... "He's confident that he'll get the south-of-Gerrard and north-of-Danforth vote. It's us Volvo-driving, Shiraz-drinking socialists in the middle he wonders about." Uh-huh. "Socialists in the middle"??? RIIIIIIGHT... amm, Zerb, you're a lefty, so try to stay over there, okay? It would make things in Canada a whole lot easier if you all figured out where you actually are. Then we could have some reasonable dialouge, rather than trying to nail the Red Jello to the wall. Then maybe this country could figure things out and start moving ahead, rather than having this blob in the middle that doesn't even know what it thinks or believes in.

Rant over.

The "Culture" Continues

Just had to laugh at the statement at the end of this article:
Peterson said the wide-open (leadership) field is a healthy sign for the Liberal party, but warned not all the names being floated should be taken seriously.

"There's an element of this that they all like seeing their names in the paper, too,"' the former premier said.

"Some of these people breathe the vapours and they get intoxicated. So some of it's real and some of isn't."
Sounds just like Liberals... intoxicated by the very IDEA of power.

Yep... even after their election loss, it sounds like the "Culture of Entitlement" is alive and well within the Liberal Party of Canada!

CTV's W5 - Criminals NOT being deported

This is disgusting. I've heard of this sort of thing for years, but I've never seen the documented PROOF. Now thanks to W5, we have it.

Prime Minister Harper, on behalf of all Canadians, get Luis Gomez-Lopez DEPORTED IMMEDIATELY. Cut off any more legal loopholes that he is using, and get him out NOW.
W-FIVE tried to find out how many criminals are at large in Canada waiting to be deported. Immigration wouldn't tell us. And we asked for an interview with Alain Jolicoeur, president of the Canada Border Services Agency and the man in charge of deporting criminals. But he refused.
PM Harper, please, ensure that this Alain Jolicoeur, the man responsible for NOT deporting these convicted criminals, IS FIRED IMMEDIATELY. Get someone in that office who can get the job done, and then GIVE THEM TO TOOLS TO GET THE JOB DONE.

All you on the looney left, who might want to interfere and claim that these people's "rights" might be violated... SHUT UP. Keep your mouth shut, and for once, help us REALLY clean up the streets of our nation.

I'm an immigrant myself... came over with my parents in 1979, so believe me, I'm 100% pro-immigration. BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... IF YOU BREAK THE LAW, YOU GET THE BOOT... END OF STORY.

No more letting them stay to serve their time... once convicted, hand them off IMMEDIATELY to their home country, even pay for their incarseration... IN THEIR HOME NATION, NOT HERE. That may deter a few people from using the system to stay here, eh?

The U of Sask. "Capitalist Pig" Cartoon

You really want to know what my response is? I'm really sad for the author... he/she has no clue what they've really done... offending the God of the Universe.

As for my response... I'm headed of to church this morning, where I will sit around a table with other saints, upon which will be a loaf of bread and a cup of wine. As we sit, we will each turn our thoughts to the Lord Jesus Christ, remembering Him for his act on the cross of Calvary, and giving Him the honour and glory He so righteously deserves. We will do this because the Lord asked us to "Do this in rememberance of me."

The author is welcome to join us anytime.

Our EDA getting ready for Election 200x

We had our 2006 EDA Annual Meeting today. Since our guy did win in this riding, we're starting to lay the groundwork for victory the next time around! We nominated our Board of Directors today, to which I was named... it's time to get cracking!

All of us are pumped... our board has a GREAT contingent of youth, with at least 6 guys under 30 (one still in highschool... who needs a youth wing/sandbox?), and at least another 15-20 men and women between 30 and 50... 3/4 of our Board. Full of fresh ideas, with solid goals, and energy... much like the Party itself.

We're organized and determined to win locally and nationally next time... so look out local Liberals!
