Jesus Tomb backers recant

Remember the recent brew-ha-ha regarding the "discovery" of Christ's final tomb?

"Jesus tomb film scholars backtrack

Several prominent scholars who were interviewed in a bitterly contested documentary that suggests that Jesus and his family members were buried in a nondescript ancient Jerusalem burial cave have now revised their conclusions, including the statistician who claimed that the odds were 600:1 in favor of the tomb being the family burial cave of Jesus of Nazareth, a new study on the fallout from the popular documentary shows."

Still seems not only possible, but probable that the tomb is that of Jesus and his family.

The Church has for years tried to defend only its narrative of the life of Jesus. However, both Islam and Judaism hve accounts of the life of Jesus as much different. Mary Magdelaine was in fact Jesus wife, a Rabbi in those times was always married. As well, Jewish Burial tradiion jives with the recent findings.

Christians need to be more open and accepting of other traditions and possible other narratives of the life of Jesus.

    anon@9:43...'in fact'...?
are we to believe you as opposed to Christ's contemporaries and secular historians of his day.(The other narratives that you mention support Scripture...have you checked?)
    Try this one:
'In fact' Columbus didn't cross the Atlantic. Now try to be open minded here.

"They support scripture" that would be Christian Scripture, but not that of Islam and Judaism which have different accounts of the life of Jesus from contemporaries of his time.

BTW, who are the "secular" historians of the time that you refer to?????

To accepts Christian Scripture and reject two other traditions and narratives is questionable.

Josephus is one secular historian...there are many. Are you curious or doubting? I'm sure CC has a longer list.
How are you doing with my 'in fact' statement on Columbus?

Josephus was a Jew who joined the Romans (by force or otherwise). I think it is arguable whether or not he can be called "secular".

Fact remains, one tradition has a narrative of Jesus but it is opposed or contradicted by two others.

Christianity has no monopoly on the truth!

"Christianity has no monopoly on the truth!"

Actually, for the record, it does... "Jesus said 'I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life, and no man comes to the Father but by Me."

Take it or leave it... your eternity depends on it.

I'm not saying that that quote definitely isn't accurate, but all we know for sure is that the writer of the text we call "The Gospel According to John" quoted Jesus as saying that, we don't know for certain that Jesus actually did say that.

    Sorry CC:

You quote only chritian text. Christianity has no monopoly on the truth. The Jewish Bible differs from yours, so does the Koran. You may believe what you want but never try and push it down the throats of others as the only truth. Show a little respect and humility for the beliefs and traditions of others.

It not all about you and your beliefs alone.
