Harper Government one of reconciliation

The Harper Government has finally abandoned the old official Liberal policy of "No appology, No compensation" for ethnic groups that have been mistreated by the Canadian Government in the past.

That's because, despite what the Liberals may say about us, we're not "mean spirited". I support this move because there are wrongs that our Government has done in the past that need to be appologized for, and corrected to the best of our ability.

For example... native issues, which are the hot-button issue this month. I'd like to see more progress on this file, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming changes that Mr. Prentice is implementing. I've actually been thinking about joining in with some of the local events to show my support for dealing with Native claims and issues. There's a lot of things we can do... and simply throwing more money into a broken system is not one of them. (though it may involve more money, to be sure)

You forgot to mention the Ontario Government's apology to the Ipperwash natives. I guess you were too busy celebrating Mike Harris' "vindication".

Any idea as to when you plan to start blogging with any sort of integrity?

??? Ammm, in case you missed it, I'm talking Federal party policy jDave, not Provincial.

By the way... it was a good move on McGuinty's part... good on him.

Then you should have mentioned that in your post...seeing as how it's closely related to your subject...BTW, you mentioned 'Liberals'. Not provincial, not federal, just Liberals in general.

But hey, I know the rules: Any kind of credit to the Liberals should only be posted in the comments. That way, the BloggingTories won't call you a traitor.

    Integrity. It's out there.

Interesting that Harper only apologizes where there are votes involved - vote buying and yet when he's been wrong, rude or childish - no apology.

    The guy is shameful.

    Sigh...

jDave, for the record, this blog of mine is primarily focused on Federal issues, and as such, when I refer to any of the Federal parties, I typically don't specify.

If, however, I'm dealing with a Provicial matter, I'll almost always indicate it spefically as an "Ontario" issue, or will name the individual involved... ie. Mr. Dalton McGunity, Mr. John Tory, or the Provincial member involved. (recently, I've also started tagging all Provicial posts with the "Queen's Park" tag... that may help)

Also to set the record straight, I have on several occasions given credit to Mr. McGuinty with a positive posting when I have felt it due. If you doubt me, you can see for yourself here, or here, or here, or even here.

The reason you don't often see positive postings here in relation to Mr. McGuinty is because I don't often agree with how he governs this province. (if I did, this blog would more likely be called "Christian Liberal")

    Have a great day!

Oh, one more thing... all of those postive postings related to Mr. McGuinty were displayed for all to see on the Blogging Tories aggregator... and I didn't get called a trator for posting them! (hard to believe, eh?)

To me, jdave34, it also seemed obvious, from the context, that the comment was directed against the Federal Liberals: CC was, after all, talking about the Federal government.

But hey, I know the rules: Any kind of credit to the Liberals should only be posted in the comments. That way, the BloggingTories won't call you a traitor.

You know the rules, do you? Then, perhaps you'd care to enlighten the rest of us. I may not be a BLOGGING Tory, but I am a card-carrying CPC member, and I would never call CC a traitor for saying something nice about the LPC in a post. After all, when the LPC does something praiseworthy, then attention should be drawn to it. It doesn't happen very often, but when such an occasion is brought to my attention, I will acknowledge it, as I am sure CC will, as indicated by his two follow-up posts.

To anonymous @ 12:51 PM EDT - can you give a concrete example of where the government has said it will not apologize for government wrongs committed in the past?

Timothy, I don't know which is more pathetic:

Your attempt to form a sentence

    or

Your willingness to actually attach your name to that incoherent Rubiks Cube of words.

Your inability to express your thoughts in an organized, understandable manner automatically invalidates what little opinion you had to offer. At least in my books.

CC: you can have our friend Timothy (can I call you Timbit?) here. Your desperation for a Conservative majority should make his obvious disability more than acceptable.

No can do jDave... I already have a friend with the nickname "Timbit"... you're gonna start confusing me if you us it for Timothy.

How about "Cousin of UFO guy" instead? ;-)

(sorry, my bad... he was just a kid when he said all that... LOL)
