Iggy sharpening the knives?

The Montreal Gazette's Don MacPherson seems to be implying just that.

I'll agree with him on one point, and then make a comment based on it...
"When the Liberal leader trails an Albertan Tory, a Toronto NDPer and a separatist on the best-PM measure," SES Research pollster Nik Nanos recently wrote for Sun Media, "it has to be pretty grim."

And a defeat in the Sept. 17 by-election in the Liberal stronghold of Outremont for Dion's handpicked candidate, Jocelyn Coulon, would probably be interpreted as a rejection of the Liberal leader himself.

Despite Ignatieff's gracious concession speech at the convention, it soon became apparent neither he nor some of his supporters, especially in Quebec, had given up hope for a second chance at the prize.
If Dion loses Outremont on September 17, and any move is made on Dion's leadership... then you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be some sort of confidence measure in the House this fall.

A different viewpoint on the same day in The Gazette.

    Hmmm...

How Christian of you to dwell on the negative.

This is a ploy to give the Libs another honeymoon because they can't get it together , and they are broke. It's time to demand that they live with their choices and force their hand in parliament to take a sound position in confidence . It's not time to have a 10 month leadership convention , and a honeymoon period so these guys can reinvent themselves.

It's time to hold their feet to the fire , and get the parliament on record in preparation for another mandate. Seems to me the Liberals call on the minority mandate was estimated as 12-18 months.

Thats here and gone now , so lets adhere to their timelines and demand that they be ready for a new mandate with the leader that they chose in the timeline they predicted so that we can hold their feet to the fire.

The prior anonymous posting has a warped view of what is positive. Lots of events in the Bible under his interpretation may be considered "un Christian". I would be interested on his take of....

    1)Sodom, and Gomorrah
    2)The Noahic flood
3)Israel conquest of the promised land
    4)Jesus calling Pharisee's

Mt:23:33: Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

    5) Rev 16:16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

    cross that with

Rev 19:11: And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12: His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13: And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14: And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15: And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16: And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
    17: And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18: That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19: And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20: And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21: And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

or how about : Christ saying ...

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23: And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

    or how about

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Was that a very Christian thing to say? A little to harsh for the breed who do not care about justice , or righteousness isn't it. Does your frail conscience feel a little weak when confronted with the truth??? The Christian Conservative language is tame in comparison to the harsh language and reality of an outcome that is most certain.

Just because Iggy gave a great speech of support is no guarantee of loyalty to the leader. Just ask Joe Clark wrt Brian Mulroney. After the 1980 election Mulroney was very public with his expressions of support for Clark, but did absolutely nothing to discourage his friends from undermining Clark. Although, I don't think Clark needed anyone else to undermine him - he did a great job all on his own. And, as I see it, Dion is following Clark's example in that regard.

How about Bible passages in Matthew that set out that Christ believed in the separation of Church and State, believed one should pray alone.

Face it - religion today is a "business". Look how wealthy the Evangelical leaders - Graham, Robertson (Falwell was) making money at the business of religion.

Also, Christ believed in tolerance and I sure don't see any here.
