Dion losing risking his "base"?

That seems to be the implication given here by these two Liberal bloggers, due to Mr. Dion's softening stance on the upcoming Budget...

Susan.com - "Nooooo!"
BCer in Toronto - "Why?"

To be honest with you, I'm ready to go... not because I think the next vote is in the bag or anything, cause it sure ain't. What I am sure of is that we're ready to go in my riding, and we think we can pull of a win if we go right now.

Here's hoping that Mr. Dion recognizes that it's now or never for his failing leadership.

Maybe Dion is just being smart and is not announcing his opposition to something that he hasn't seen yet.

I seem to recall him taking a few lumps a couple months back for that.

Dion has already come out once and said that he would not support the budget. Now, he is simply doing what he does best, flip flopping.

Give it a couple of days, someone from the Liberals, "That's not what he meant to say" department, will make a statement saying his words were taken out of context.

Steffi wouldn't recognize a good political moment just like he wouldn't recognize his own ass if it fell from the heavens on his head like a Mr. Bean turkey.

Why would he go now, abstaining worked to the benefit of the libs in the fall (outside ottawa and partisan followers no one cared.

Harper has no plan, why not let him continue his downward spiral, I mean he has no vision, no plan, he cant even make a decision on Kosovo, Dion has.

The conservatives have cut the wrong taxes, spent more per capita than any government in history, and in trying to buy voters in the last budget/mini budget.

Look at the big picture people.
Dion is playing the long game, Harper has no chance, his government was built for the short term.

And even when it comes to wooing voters he cant get it up.

Then there is latest attack ad, panned by all.

How embarrising for them, they cant even get Flaherty to sell it with his ontario record.

So now we have, Ambrose, Flaherty, Lunn, now Prentice, Bernier and Mackay whose careers have been ramshackled by Harper. Its beautiful to watch, when you stand back a bit from the Ottawa fray.

And besides Obama's is coming in late march? to make up for missing the leadership convention.
    That shall be interesting....

I'm not entirely sure... their entry point was via a Yahoo! search, maybe they were just looking for me and couldn't remember my blog URL or something.

I'm not trying to dig up any goods on you Potted Plant. I just think the Guelph riding association should have defended Brent's candidacy. You're also right about the Yahoo search thing. I can never remember you're web address. Did you read my column yesterday? I used your Peter Van Loan/Barney Rubble thing in it. Besides, when I had MY website, I didn't bar you from posting. Did I?

    Hey Mike,

Thanks for putting your name to it this time... I just didn't appreciate the Anonymous attacks on our candidate.

I already know how you felt about the whole incident here... but you were an outsider, and you didn't know what was really going on, nor did you have a clue what was going on in Ottawa. (I didn't fully either, to be honest) You were making things worse, when all we wanted was to patch things up as best we could and move on.

We think we can move on now with the candidate we have in place. I've been heavily involved with both campaign teams, and I think we've got a really good shot.

I'd just appreciate that you not actively try and hurt Mr. Harper and the Party by attacking us here in town... to get a majority, we need every single seat, and we're doing our best here to do what's in the best interest of Canadians, and the Party.

I tried replying once already, but I don't think it went through. I'm not as techie as yourself.

While I'm always up for some civilized debate, you must understand I couldn't live with myself if I supported Gloria's candidacy. I do not want her to win, period.

As far as my website goes, I only pulled it down because Brent wasn't going to need it. I don't like to leave anything up to take up space. I'm just anal like that. I'm the type of guy who has to tear down a flyer or poster for an event that's past. Frankly, I wouldn't mind if www.yourcandidate.ca were to come down becuase it's outdated now

    Hey Mike,

Would prefer to take this conversation offline... and off the record, due to its sensitive nature, and your position at the paper.

Feel free to e-mail me at "christian(dot)conservative(dot)2007(at)gmail(dot)com" if you want to talk further. (replace everything in the brackets with the correct symbols... it's an anti-spam measure)
