Elizabeth May "out of bounds"

From Guelph's local paper, noticed via Guelph Blogs.ca...
"She [Elizabeth May] also rolled out that she "was close to slitting (her) wrists," over the uninspiring last round of televised, national leader debates. She was being sarcastic and loose with her language. Much too loose. That suicide comment was out of bounds."
Yikes... joking about suicide now? I'm thinking she just lost her support among Mental Health advocates.

Though I hear she did a pretty good Dion impression... which, of course, likely won't help her amongst the Francophone community either. You think that Mr. Dion might want to rethink his alliance with her?

I'll bet ya that Jack Layton is smiling a little bigger today.

    Not cool "CC", Not cool.

Ms. May is a colourful speaker, you know that. We need more of her in politics.

You are trying to spin this, plain and simple.

You might want to make sure you post your accusation on the Merc Editors blog, since they're the ones who think her comment was "out of bounds". (and that's a QUOTE)

    Oh, don't worry I did.

Maybe it's just my personal bias clouding my judgement, but this post of yours is sheer partisanship.

At least with Phil, he writes with a journalistic perspective, you're just trying to score points

If I were partisan about it, I would have said nothing... a strong Green vote hurts Liberals and the NDP more than the Tories.

I commented on it so a wider national audience would be made aware of the inappropriate statement, as my blog has a national readership, whereas the comment might be missed if it were only posted by an Editorial blog of a small local newspaper.

I agree, I do think your personal bias against me clouded your judgement on this one.

Oh, well then, how decent of you, martyring your party for us, your dear readers.

I'm sure Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast are just absolutely enthralled with the choice of words Elizabeth May uses every moment of every day.

Hey Mike, I sure there are quite a few Greens (and former Greens) who are absolutely horrified with May's choice of words most of the time. Her 'thoughts' on abortion, her Chamberlain comments, and her lack of judgement in the Ottawa West Nepean EDA race are only the start of the problem. Does May owe Green Party members the honor of communicating in a professional manner?

Okay, you may be on to something there.

I like ELIZABETH MAY because she's a straight shooter, but I suppose I can see how other Greens might not like being associated with certain statements.

I would never hold May's words against my local Green candidate, but I understand that some voters refuse to evaluate their local candidates (as they should) in leiu of following the party leader, even if they're not the candidate in the riding.

How fitting that this is a major flaw in the electoral system the Greens wish to change.

May is a fool that gets way too much media time for a private citizen, regardless of her aspirations she is still just another citizen voice, she officially represents no-one and probably never will.

I know that this is off topic, but I was wondering when you are going to post about the Bernier flap?
You know the one that you said was a non-issue a while back.

I actually stared one last night, but after I saw all the other posts on it, I didn't bother... I don't tend to comment on issues that have been done to death already.

That being said, leaving the docs behind was just plain dumb, and I think the final straw... as Joanne's post was entitled today, "Watch where you drop your briefs".

    Good advice.

See, that's why I didn't use the ""You don't know what you speak about!" line!!!"

You would have upstaged me with the brief-drop line.

    That's hilarious

Who really cares what the Greens think, or for that matter the Liberals; the Tories will be running Canada for the next two elections at the least. Bad time to be a left winger or a thief. Regards Jake

May has been a disaster for the Green Party. Endorsing Dion has cost her candidates any kind of a chance in most ridings. The party is on its way to defeat the NDP without her. This comment and other comments related to WWII are nothing short of gaffes.

May should resign as Green leader, run as a Liberal and let someone stable lead the Greens. Jim Harris needs to return!
