Mark Holland: Secret Tory Agent?

That's what the National Post's John Turley-Ewart is asking today, regarding Mr. Holland's uncanny ability to pop up out of the woodwork and give the Conservatives exactly what they need, when they need it... a wedge issue in the "905" that may swing a few ridings, including his own, into the BLUE column on election night...
"Whose interests Mr. Holland serves is a question many in Liberal ranks must be asking themselves this morning after the Liberal MP made it known that Stéphane Dion "will be championing a bold idea — tax shifting — that will encourage industry and individuals to make green choices." This "bold idea" essentially means Mr. Dion wants to make buying fuel more expensive than it already is by imposing even more taxes on it. Now there is a campaign issue for the Liberals that would make Stephen Harper and the Conservatives a bunch of happy campers"

I don't think this has anything to do with Mark Holland what so ever. Garth is blogging about this as well. This seems to be coming from the Liberal brain trust.

What they're doing is trying to high light the "tax shifting" not tax raising. Saying yes, they'll introduce a carbon tax, but then they'll offset it with a reduction in income tax.

But anyone with half a brain can pick that apart. It will in fact be very harmfull to poor people.

The people who pay no, or the least in income tax won't benefit from an income tax reduction. The people who pay the most and can afford to pay more tax (according to progressives) will benefit the most from an income tax reduction. The extra money poor people have to pay for gas will never come back to them in income tax reductions.

The Liberals are retards, and think that Canadians are as well. Good communication of this during any election campaign will cause the Liberals to get creamed if they think raising taxes will sweep them into office.

Remember Joe Clark's gas tax increase? It brought Trudeau back into office.

By the time Dion and Holland do the cross Canada BBQ circuit, proclaiming 'but your industry/province will be exempt',
the only ones paying the carbon tax will be the oil and gas industry (in Alberta only), and Albertans because they make easy money.

BC and Quebec will be exempt because they have a carbon tax.
Exempt the recipients (or soon to be) of equalization and manufacturing and forestry....hello Alberta.

Thank god Conservatives won the last election or we would already be knee deep into NEP2.

    Danny Millions must know that.

I seriously doubt Mark Holland is in any serious trouble of getting reelected. The previously nominated Tory candidate in Ajax-Pickering, Steve Gilchrist, has stepped down for unknown reasons and has apparently left the country. Good thing too, because I got tired of seeing his smug face on TV during those idiotic strategy sessions on CTV.

Oh wait, wasn't Steve convicted of tax evasion or something a while back.

Singling out Mark Holland gives me the indication that his riding, Christian Conservative, is the riding that you are unfortunately (for you) trapped in.

My estimate for your time of entrapment would probably be like, oh I don't know, 30 years or so!

Believe me Alan, I'm going to be doing as much as I possbily can to ensure that my "entrapment" ends once the writ is dropped.

    Down with Holland!

(in the interest of avoiding an international incident, I'm referring to Liberal MP Mark Holland... NOT the European nation)

So, if you'll be doing everything you possibly can to oust Mark Holland, does that mean you'll be AWAL from your local campaign.

Don't worry, I won't say anything about names or places...
