The Post Election Burn Out

Yup... I got a bad case of it.  I'm fairly uninterested most all things political right now, believe it or not.  That, and I've been sick for the last three days.

Anyway, except for one red dot, we painted all of SW Ontario from Mississauga to London Tory BLUE... not bad at all.  And Guelph was less than an 1800 vote margin... also impressive, though a loss none the less.  Gary Goodyear posted an impressive 48% victory in Cambridge, WAY TO GO TEAM!  The team in KW also did a tremendous job in overcoming 10,000 vote margins in Kitchener Center and Kitchener-Waterloo to knock off two Liberal incumbents, one of them being the high-profile Liberal Whip Karen Redman.

Anyway, organizing the post-writ wrap-up, etc.  Lots of fun.  And now having to ramp up on the next big thing... the Convention.  Posting a separate blog post for that.  Stay tuned.

And really great was Phil McColeman taking Brant which has been Liberal or NDP for as long as I can remember

I'd have to admit, though I'm not exactly jumping for joy over the defeat of Andrew Telegdi, I thought it would eventually come that his career was at an end. He's been in the House for 15 years, and the last few of them he wasn't exactly in a prominent role. I hope KW Liberals can get their act together in a renewal process, and find a new candidate soon. And if they run Telegdi again, well I guess anything's possible :-)

Totally upset however with the loss of Karen Redman, one of Canada's more distinguished parlimentarians. I definitely hope she runs again.

It's strange to note that besides Valeriote, the only remaining Liberal in all of Southwestern Ontario is Glen Pearson, the MP from London North Centre. Dubbed by MacLean's as "The Last Decent Man in Ottawa," Pearson's probably the nicest guy up there too, too nice for the rough and tumble of politics, yet he survived reelection.

I guess this proves that the credo "Nice Guys Finish Last" still rings true today.

And finally, the Tories reach into Mississauga was completely miniscual. They won only Erindale by just 400 votes; not exactly a decisive win. In all the other ridings, the Mississauga Tories got their asses kicked, especially Wajid Khan!
