Liblogs in full blown REVOLT

We all knew this was coming... with the installation, instead of of the election, of Michael Ignatieff as the new Liberal leader, and then the imposition of the "official" Iggy/Liberal viewpoint by Jason on the Liblogs, things have now erupted into a full blown revolt. (Interesting tidbit... isn't it interesting how many former Rae supporters, or at least left-leaning Liberals, are a part of this little "rebellion"?)

There's been a number of their better known and respected bloggers who have tended their "resignation" from the Liberal aggregator, and a new aggregator has popped up, called Liberals ONLINE. It's pretty basic at the moment, but they're apparently working on it.

Sorta takes me back to, oh, I dunno, the "conservative" movement here in Canada of the 1990's.

Here's just a few posts from "former" Libloggers...

James Curran:
Ignatieff/Harper/Canada Offside with the Rest of the World

For #*$&*@ Sake Michael! SAY SOMETHING!!!

The Mound of Sound: (who's now renamed his blog, "The Disaffected Lib")

Warning - may be offensive to Liberal ears

Ledaro:

James C. Morton:
Good bye to Libloggs

With that group you should of called it "The Loons in Full Flight" or "Same Old Crap Just a Different Pile". When Iggy became the leader of the Federal Liberal Party, someone forgot to take out the trash. Now the trash is causing the bad liberal smell to worsen.

I'm not sure what the big deal is.
There are still a number of upset Progressive Conservatives who would in a heartbeat like to have Joe Clarke back....every party has the fringe element. I find it kind of ironic that as Ignatief begins to bring the Liberal party back from the brink some Liberal supporters are upset with him. Its almost as though they'd rather have the party stay at 70 to 80 seats and represent a narrow view rather then have the party become relevant again. Curious.

And apparently it has come down from high in the OLO that no sitting Liberal MP attend any pro-Hamas/anti-Israel rallies anywhere. No exceptions.
How's that for being the party of the Big Tent and nice comfy fur?

I'm sure that has riled more than a few (Coderre!) in the LPC on the Chretien side of the Chretien/Martin LPC Divide.

In recent years it seems that the left has been splitting while the right has been coalescing. Conservatives appear to be the more tolerant political movement.

I credit this with the fact that conservatives today have a distinct libertarian bent, and as such are more likely to think "I strongly disagree with some of your viewpoints, but I believe profoundly in your right to express them."

The left mostly (but not completely) lack such a common ground for mutual respect, and as such disagreements become more divisive.

Just a theory. Throwing it out there.

P.S. Why you didn't use the headline "Liblogs revolting" is beyond me.

Hey Tory@York, your comment was rejected... did you honestly think that "Christian Conservative" would publish one that took the Lord's Name in vain? ;-)

Take another stab at it, appreciate the other sentiments you posted.

I would just like to guarantee valleysense, nobody wants Joe (Who?) Clarke, back. Sheesh, that's like 15 years ago but if the libbie revolt wants to take that much time to figure it out, well, okay!

Did the house cleaning at Liblogs start just after Kinsella got aboard?

Funny how Iggy is everything the Libs accused PMSH of being, and wasn't.

'Progressives' are very disappointed with Iggy,
Mulcair (not Jack) has a good opportunity to scoop them up.

I nearly choked reading your comments as I posted an entry not even 30 minutes ago with the title "The Lib Blogs are Revolting"; and here I thought I was being original

4 or 5 disenchanted kiddies is hardly a revolt.

Of course, you'd want to make more of it than what it is - partisanship and all.

If you look at the people involved, except Morton, they are combative, opinionated and childish and if you don't see things quite their way - they attack. Better off without them. Especially Curran - he's a nasty piece of work and pouts and feels sorry for himself and gets very personal. No party would want a guy like this.

Lyn, Curran's bark is worse than his bite... I've met him, and though we disagreed on a LOT of issues, I found him to be a lot more respectful in person that many of the other Liberal bloggers give him credit for.

    My two cents.

Press release from the Chinese Canadian Conservative Association:

Senior Ignatieff Liberal's "cat meat" comment offends the Chinese community

Chinese Canadian Conservative Association calls on Liberal leader to fire Senior Liberal strategist Warren Kinsella

Toronto – Alex Yuan, chair of the Chinese Canadian Conservative Association called on Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff to distance himself from the comments made by senior Liberal strategist Warren Kinsella. In a recent blog posting Kinsella likened the meat found in Chinese cuisine to cat meat.

“Back in the Big Owe for a couple weeks, so what better way to kick things off than with some BBQ cat and rice at the Yang Sheng, hangout of our youth? Yay!”

Kinsella repeated the offensive comment in a video posting on his website.

“Our community is deeply concerned with Mr. Kinsella's comments. Kinsella repeats the most vulgar and offensive stereotypes by associating the meat served by Chinese restaurants to cat meat. He has hurt the feelings of the Chinese people and disrespected the Chinese culture," continued Yuan.

“This is not the first instance of such intolerant remarks by Mr. Kinsella therefore we call upon Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff to fire Mr. Kinsella as his senior strategist and apologize to the community.”

Mr. Kinsella was forced to apologize for another intolerant blog posting in 2007. In the 2007, he wrote a post suggesting that Progressive Conservative MPP Lisa MacLeod would rather bake cookies than run for office.
