Memo to GG Michelle Jean: You ROCK

I take back anything and everything negative I've ever said about Governor General Michelle Jean, after she stuck it to the European Union, along with nutbars at PETA and the Animal Alliance Environment Voters Party of Canada today by taking a bite out of a raw seal heart in Nunavut.

Don't think I could do it... props to the GG!

I'm certainly not going to "take back anything negative I've ever said about her", because those past critisms I've made are still valid. However, I certainly support her current message to the EU and PETA!

Good for her....you sure wouldn't see Adrian Clarkson doing anything like this....it's not within her social circle. The present GG loves to get out there and interact with the people of Canada, from shaking hands with the US president to celebrating with the natives of the artic she shows Canadians that she is interested in everyone and their cultures. Iam very proud of her and as for the naysayers don't go putting on those leather shoes, coats, belts and handbags and go out for a nice dinner because those animals met a much worse death than that seal.

I've never been a huge fan of her, but in this situation She's being an exemplary GG.

Her job is to represent ALL Canadians. If one of their practices makes other's sqeamish, tough toenails!

Besides, I hear Seal is uber yummy.

Ms. Jean has done more to show Canada in a favourable light than any GG I can remember. She certainly outclasses her predecessor by a country mile. She is the only good thing that ever came out of the Chretien government.

You might want to correct that. Jean wasn't appointed by Chretien, it was Martin.

Er, GG Jean was a Martin appointment. That said, she's great and we're lucky to have her.

This was entirely a good move. Her term is coming up too, so I am sure that she wants to be seen as supporting the government's north initiatives and support of the seal hunt. This was way beyond the call of duty though!!! I could not of done it either and I love sashimi. It's about having a plate and spices ....

Anyone who can piss off P.E.T.A. is great in my book. I don't think I would have had the "gut's" to try raw seal heart.

I think the EU made the right move and this will do nothing to change their mind. Get used to it, the hunt is no longer commercially viable. The cost to police it are higher than the contribution to the economy. Most Canadians are against the seal hunt.

I'm actually interested in trying some seal heart after this episode, since I didn't know people eat that part of the seal in the first place. I used to think sushi was exotic!

That said, good for GG to stick it to those radical animal rights protestors. Someone needs to tell them they're not right ALL the time.
