Anyone remember what happens tomorrow?

Another seat in the Senate becomes vacant, which will bring the standings to 47 vs. 52.

Any suggestions on names of who the next Senator from Newfoundland and Labrador will be?

Sorry - It would be rather ironic though.

Anyway, just trying to see if I could make anyone laugh on a Monday morning!

My family's from NF, so I would move there if I got offered a Senate appointment (that would probably convince my wife to finally let us move out there from our current home in MB!)

My name's Mike, and I would be more than happy to serve Canada in that capacity.

    I assume that's a joke too?

Here is the NL PC Party's website: http://www.pcparty.nf.net/

Though if Danny Williams is a Liberal, what does that make the Liberal Party in Newfoundland? (Next question being, what does that make the NDP?)

Yes 1152, a joke... although with all the help he's been to the Federal Liberals in the last few years, I'm not so sure... ;-)

I just noticed that in the current standings, the Liberals have only 52 Senators, which gives them only 49.52% of the votes in the 105 member chamber. There is one Indpendent Liberal who I guess ususally votes with them, giving them the majority.

Of course, if Harper appoints another partisan Tory to give the Tories 47 senators, and if they can persuade the 4 independents to vote with them, the CPC are themselves short a majority in the Senate.
