Why the current polls don't concern me

It's really funny watching all the media speculation right now about how there's a "seismic" shift in voter intentions, and that Mr. Harper and the Conservatives have lost "the Big Mo".

Do I look concerned? Not in the least. Iffy's already said he's not going to pull the trigger, and Liberal MP's across the country have been repeating the talking points... "Now's not the time." And besides all that, I turn your attention to some historical figures...

Polls... they ebb and they flow, come and they go. Right now, it's still all about the prorogue. Soon, everyone's attention will turn to the Olympics. Then, it will be all about the Throne Speech and the Budget. And you know what Canadians are going to shrug and say?

"I think I liked them better when they were prorogued."

UPDATE: Of course, the Q4 Party fund raising numbers also put a smile on my face. Yea, we pulled in two and a half times what they did... AGAIN.

    Ha Ha
    What spin.

The CPC has been mortally wounded.

Bury your head in the sand if you want and keep believing that the Olympics will mean Stephen Harper gets a boost.

    Ha Ha!!!!

    LOL

In April of 2009 Ekos (which rates the Green party higher than any other polling firm) had the Liberals ahead 37% to 30%.

    Obviously that didn't last.

Like I've said, we've been on the defensive since Copenhagen. Numerous enemies have taken shots at us. Much of the media has torqued up, and reinforced the Liberal spin on the prorogue.

    We've been on the defensive,
which is obviously not a good thing. But things change with the budget and Throne Speech. We pivot to offensive mode, as Harper sets the agenda.

Let's see how the Opps play it. If I were them, I would be very afraid of what hardball Harper has in store. My sense is that quite a few Liberal sacred cows (i.e. special interest groups sympathetic to the Libs) are going to get sacrificed on the altar of budget restraint.

Will the compromised, unprepared Iggy come to their rescue ? Or keep repeating " bad bad bad, but Canadians don't want an election" ?

I'm not surprised at the success the Conservatives are having raising money. The Conservative philosophy is “What can I do for my country. The Liberal philosophy is “What can my Country do for me”.

I’m interested to see what Elections Canada is going to do with the unpaid debts of the dead beat Liberals such as Kennedy and Finley? Elections Canada is curiously silent.

It's media manufactured hype. Too bad nobody reads them or watches them anymore.

This may also be the drop all the pundits were so sure would happen, when the recession hit.
    It's just a little late.

Considering all the ink the national media spent on prorogygate, and a recession....
    a tie is very good.

LibDippers may be preparing to bring down the govt,
    don't trust anything they say.

Talk about media spin. "Seismic shift" indeed - back to the status quo that has held true over the last 4 years: a rough balance between the Liberals and Conservatives, with other parties picking up the crumbs.

What it really shows is massive indifference on the public's part - not a sudden love-in for either party.
