CAPP now against SunTVNews

It's kinda both funny and sad to watch the left foaming at the mouth over the announcement of SunTVNews. Check this pic I snagged from their Facebook group today...
Make sure you submit your two cents on the issue... and tell the CRTC that "Freedom of the Press" is still important here in Canada, despite the left's fervent desire to maintain a Stalinistic-like control over it.

    Another front for the NDP.

If you look at the people behind it, and where they did their organizing.

Cannis in QP noted the same thing today in QP when he went to one of those fake protests.

It was not a grassroots but led by pro union, ndp activists.

Is CAPP still going? What does Sun TV have to do with prorogation? Oh, and it is okay for Dalton and Rae to prorogue as much as they'd like.

Yes, CAPP is still going. It's mostly bashing anything that's not Liberal or NDP. They were yammering about the "Hamas Peace Flotilla". It's fun to go on and "debate" with them. It's really not fair to take advantage of them like that, though.

    The ringleaders are Lib-NDP activists.

It is very upsetting for them to lose their funding for their favourite NGO.

Millions, hundreds of stories was spent in treating prorogue as a grave injury to democracy.

If the CPC was a majority and acted like the Liberals, I would have some sympathy.

The CPC minority governs at the pleasure of the majority (coalition). A simple motion to remove confidence or defeat a supply bill would force an election.

The coalition is too weak to fight another election.

CAPP are trying to undermine the tools to prevent a coup by the coalition again.

Democracy, our traditions of first past the post are being dumped for other forms of power.

They have no difficulty on the reliance of separatists to stop the majority.

Can't say I'd support a right wing Fox-News type network here. But I'm even less inclined to stop the creation of such a network by using the power of The State.

What worries me more is the politicization of "the news", which contributes to a disturbing trend: "the left" and "the right" increasingly live in completely different epistemological universes. I'm not talking here about political slant or interpretation. The problem is that we are increasingly working with different sets of "facts."

There have been interesting studies done that look at public opinion/knowledge on issues like whether or not "weapons of mass destruction" were found in Iraq, or whether or not Iraqis were among the 9/11 hijackers... In general, American public knowledge/opinion was poor. But how well or poorly the questions were answered had a lot to do with where the respondents got their news.

    e.g. http://www.pipa.org/OnlineReports/Iraq/IraqMedia_Oct03/IraqMedia_Oct03_pr.pdf

The problem is not necessarily whether or not one's news is "left wing" or "right wing" -- though the study just cited found Fox News viewers to be the worst informed, and viewers of PBS and listeners of NPR to be the best informed--the problem is that the news is given to us by people who are interested in (or who need to) make a profit. What's profitable is not always what's accurate.

    Post Script:

I don't see how asking people "write [a] letter if [they] are opposed" to something counts as "foaming at the mouth."

That one instance isn't what I'd call "foaming at the mouth", but when you add that to the hundreds of other voices on the left that are decrying this market driven venture, "foaming at the mouth" seems to be an understatement in summary.

Ah. In that case, please accept my apologies. I guess when it comes to foaming at the mouth, I tune out.
