Liberals showing desperation, back in Guelph today

It's really a telling sign that Liberal leader is once again in Guelph, for the third time in as many months... actually, I think it's his fourth time in three months.

Why? It's obvious... they're concerned they're going to lose the riding next time around. They're not gaining any traction in the polls, the Economic Action Plan is having an impact in Guelph, and they have an ineffective Member of Parliament in Frank Valeriote, who is one of the House of Common's top absentee voters. (And the local paper's attempt at an excuse for him, claiming it might be due to his committee work falls flat, since all votes are scheduled in advance, and all committee meetings are suspended when the call for a vote occurs)

With an MP like Frank, it's no surprise that Iggy's having to make so many appearances in town. But add to the fact that Iggy will be forced to resign after the next election if he suffers ANY seat losses in places like Guelph, it's no surprise that he's spending so much time desperately trying to hang on to "safe" Liberal seats like Guelph.

UPDATE: Interesting, apparently Iggy is using a taxpayer funded school to help promote washed up candidates like former MP Karen Redman... who's riding is over 40kms away. I can understand having the local MP Frank Valeriote up on stage with him, but to use a taxpayer funded school in a partisan effort to help out a has-been candidate from far away?

My daughter, who goes to Redeemer University College in Ancaster, said that Iggy was going to speak there sometime in the near future. I'd like to go, because they have a number of outspoken, Conservative Poli-Sci students who want to question him.

Wow, more Liberal bashing. Why don't you talk up your own government? I guess Harper's track record so far doesn't give much to boast about.
Record deficit and all with nothing to show for it.

Bash the Liberals to create a distraction. You're all so very tired.

Gee CC, someone here doesn't know who left canada with his own debt. And oddly back then there was no recession, in fact he caused a recession. Remember the NEP. Now I wonder who is that person. hmmm.

I also wonder who has left Ontario with a large debt to create a 'have not province?

Have you notice CC, that the media are estatic happy thrilled with such joy that they remain speechless that their DALTON created a 'have not province?

I wonder who is looking after, attending too the liberal structure deficits right now. You know, the military, repayments to provinces for their health care, education, infrustructure, the EIfunding which the liberals took without repaying it in full.

Gee, the media is deadly silent on all this.

And another thing, the liberals are not alone, NDP and the BLOC join them in Coalition so what DUCEPPE WANTS, libs have to give.Period

Wow, it's funny how the Cons bringing up the coalition idea. Let's not forget it was Harper himself, begging Duceppe to join him to form a coalition before he was Conservative leader. Why the hypocrisy?

And seriously Jen, I'm sure what you meant to say was crystal clear in your head, but it made little sense when you typed it out. Slow down.

And CC, it's a little rich complaining that the Liberals were involved in "a partisan effort".
I'm pretty sure I don't need to elaborate on that.
Also, the last time I checked the Liberals and Conservatives were dead even in the polls. What's this "gaining no traction" nonsense?

It's like Ralph Goodale once said, if you could harvest the spin form a Conservative, you'd have an alternative form of energy.

Well Anon7:45. Record deficit. I seem to recall the reason that the deficit was so large was because of the "Economic Action Plan", something which Iggy and the Liberals all demanded be implemented.

    Hey Bert,
If I recall correctly, the Conservative's were the highest spending gov't in Cdn history before any stimulus spending. And now they're pushing a $2 billion + crime agenda which has been proven to be a massive failure in the U.S.

There is nothing "conservative" about this government. They are spending like drunken fools and we'll be paying for it for years.
    Strong fiscal managers my butt.

Yes, let's talk about how the Liberals stole from EI to pay down the deficit, hmm ?. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/07/13/f-jean-chretien.html

Now, you send me documentation proving the Conservatives were the highest spending government in canadian History. Data from hapernomics.ca or Facebook doesn't count.
