Any Liberals still hankering for an election?

Here's a couple buckets of cold water on that idea... First, there was EKOS, with the CPC at 37% vs. the LPC at 24%, a 12 point spread. And now we have IPSOS, with the CPC at 39% vs. the LPC at 25%... a freaking 14 point, Valeriote de-electing, cusp of majority spread.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled lives.

If these polls remain the same over a longer period of time, then yes, it might be a reason to be optomistic.

Problem is, we've seen this movie too many times, the Tories have a big lead and then , all of a sudden, it's a dead heat.

So, until that time, I think I will take my lead from the PMO and just say...no comment.

You might just have to break your fixed date election law again...

    Bert:
Does it say that in the law itself? If so, someone should have told the rest of us that. There is a great line in the American declaration of independence about what must be done and said when making claims about the entitlements given by "the laws of nature, and nature's god": "...a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes..."

Surely a decent respect for the laws of nature, natures god, and the opinion of mankind would entail some sort of disclosure within the legislation about who the law was meant for...

For some reason, I suspect that if the party you prefer had a majority government right now, you would say that the fixed date election law was meant only for minority governments.

    CC: Yawn? YAWN?

    I expected more from you.

Would you be similarly somnambulant if a Liberal or NDP government (or whatever) government passed a law and subsequently felt no need to obey (in terms of the letter or spirit or spin of said law) if it was not politically expedient?

Political partisanship aside, more than a Yawn is required here. Unless you just mean to say that are tired of reciting talking points...

No, just tired of having to respond to Liberal talking points from Liberal partisans. ;-)
