My official statement

Here's a relevant passage from St. Paul... one that I have always lived by.

"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake." Romans 13:1-5, NKJV

Of course, if people don't want to believe that, they can listen to this instead... (specifically the 0:30 second mark)

UPDATE: Seems that some (okay, A LOT) of folks have been taking my post out of context. So just a clarification. These verses aren't talking about any one issue. It's simply a good summary of my general credo in life... that I seek to fully obey the Word of God, and walk in accordance with the laws of the land in everything I do. Basically, it's a response to anyone who thinks that I would ever participate in anything illegal. Not my style, as everyone who knows me has and will attest to.

And the video... well, that's for those folks who just don't want to listen. ;-)

Honestly, I think you're a creep of epic proportions, and to come out swinging like this in typical Harper fashion makes you an even bigger douche, if that's possible. Clearly, I missed the part in the bible where God professes his eternal love for cheating liars.

Interesting that you insist folk move on when an active investigation into fraud is underway and has yet to report.
Also it is interesting that you appear to advocating that ordinary folk should never question the actions of their leaders because they were apparently appointed by your god.
So the anti-abortion crowd that demands the issue be re-opened should shut up and stay away too; as should anybody from the far right religious lobbies currently seeking to restrict our civil rights.
Or is it only folks you disagree with who should move on?

And if there's no specific rule, I err on the side of caution.

Which is why I have to stand back and laugh at all the "haters" (or, as I like to think of them now, "groupies") that I seem to have collected these last few months. I never realized how interesting my life was... but they just can't seem to get enough of me!

Interpretive reading for those unfamiliar with that sort of text:

    1. The authorities that exist have divine sanction.
    2. To disobey the authorities is therefore to disobey God, and will bring divine retribution.
    3. CC obeys the authorities, and obeys the law.

[Works fine in a liberal democracy; slightly more problematic in a dictatorship -- but most likely the way to read it there is that those authorities do not have divine sanction, and therefore are not true authorities.]

Most of us, FWIW, can't make that claim. For instance, I disobey speed limits... daily.

It's also a transparently silly and false statement. Plenty of people who followed that Bible to the letter had very good reason to fear their governments. Some of them still do. And plenty of governments in this world need to be opposed, even though according to you they're "God's minister."

A very silly statement from a very silly book.

I am curious though, knowing how much you do know about technology, whether you are aware of who actually is responsible? The few articles I read that mentioned the issue say that you shared an IP address with whoever's responsible, and I'm assuming someone like you is security conscious enough to have proper user accounts and logs and everything so that sort of thing could be tracked (I know I would as an IT professional who's meticulous about security myself).

This has been bugging me since I heard about your connection, and I didn't want to bring it up on Facebook but I figure since you've posted about it here on your blog I'd finally mention it.

When I think of the evil thing you have done and how you have quoted scripture to justify it I can only have pity on you. You need to confess your sins to God. If you have then good. Nothing more is necessary and you will then be judged by our legal system. But it really seems like you have closed your heart to God on this. That is very dangerous. Clear your mind, open your heart and ask God to judge you.

You dont need to look very hard to see this government is not taking us in the right direction. They want to make it harder to get EI or even get your pension. They want to take away most environmental rules and muzzle Canadian scientists who receive public funding. They are currently trying to pass a copyright bill which will make Canada one of the most digitally restricted countries in the world. The want to monitor our online activities just because one in 10,000 people might be doing something wrong. They have changed the meat inspection rules to allow potentially "dog food" grade meat into the food supply. They want to allow genetically modified food stuffs into the food supply as well. I don't thing god would be happy with us playing god. This is not a place where I want my children to live. I don't understand, where do you think the conservatives have made the right choice? Surely you don't think Canadian banks needed a $114 billion dollar bailout when there was no evidence it was even needed!!?? This government only cares about big business, not me or you. Conservatives are for small government, yet they make so many laws that its impossible to keep up. And now thanks to bill C-10, a small time marijuana grower goes to jail for a longer mandatory minimum sentence than a convicted pedophile! The list goes on...

None are so hopeless as those who believe they are free....

I, myself, have "put on Christ" but the Christ I know is nothing like what I see in Ottawa. The Christ I know would eschew the financially expedient in favour of helping the underprivileged. Peacemaking is valued more than military hardware and redemption is sought for wrong-doers over their retribution.
I could go on, but it could be summed up with Christ's great manifesto - the sermon on the mount. I see neither the letter or the spirit of those words in the current government.

So you would never, say, grab and try to confiscate an Elections Canada ballot box with real ballots in it in the middle of election day, right? Just to be clear. Because that would be illegal.

You would never call someone or arrange for a robocall to someone on a voter database belonging to a national party, right? Because that would be a violation of privacy laws unless you got the express written consent of the national party and the individual.

And you would never ever call someone or arrange fora robocall to someone in which you did not identify yourself properly, right? or direct someone to an incorrect address for a voting station, right?

Who said I was blaming "the left"? Try again dude... I was commenting on how "the left" has been obsessed with "robocalls", but when a crime is committed against the Conservatives, ie - a foot being mailed to them, the left has been strangely silent.

Why are they not decrying this latest outrage against democracy?

I'll tell you why... because most of them are hypocrites.

At least one member of the NDP has condemned the severed foot mailing (on behalf of the NDP).

The delivery of a foot to the Conservatives and the Liberals by a nutbar psychopath is an outrage to "democracy"?????

And on par with illegal campaign fraud?????

Are you sure you are on the same planet as the rest of us?

Seriously, dude, that is one of the most bizarre and hyper-partisan comments I have read anywhere before.

I think you are bein judged for your loyalty to the lord and people are giving you a hard time and calling you names because
    1. You are a person of interest
    2. All the evidence leads to you
    3. If you didn't do it then you had to know something about who was doing it or else the police would not have you as a suspect
    4. You are refusing all interviews when if you are innocent you would have nothing to hide?
I personally think all your leaders used you as a guppy to do all there dirty work and now your in trouble and all there hands will be clean!! I also think that if you have all this faith and loyalty to the bible/church/Jesus
It's going to be a lot harder to make up for your sins and get forgiven if you are lying to all the people and the truth comes out and you may or may not have been involved in this
SO NOW I ASK REALLY WHERE IS YOUR LOYALTY
And next election once you learned all these people used you to do there dirty work, what party will you vote for

Wow are you stupid. If your for conservatism then you are for private jails where inmates are held for profit. Is it ok to profit from the misfortune of others?

Do you believe small drug offenders should spend more time in jail then pedophiles? If you answered yes to these then you are a true christian and conservative.

We know where your true values lie. (No pun intended)
